I wish I could smile that bright.
I wish I could gather all the people of my city in my arms, tell them to keep living, keep dancing on coffins, keep thrusting their fists in the sky every Sunday. When I deposited them back in their beds, I’d whisper into their sleeping brains, “You are meant to be. This is your time.”
For here in New Orleans we live not only at the confluence of great bodies of water, but also at a confluence of times; we can live beyond the modern factionalism charged by old vs. new, tradition vs. progress, the people vs. America Inc., cultural preservation vs. loss of identity.
We can live beyond.. We can live.. We can.. We
